Dancing from the Inside Out with
Layla Isis

In this workshop Layla will organize an
in depth exploration of the internal self
through movement, meditation, and
creative self expression for the purpose
of awakening one’s true nature and
revealing the hidden inner story in your
dance.  By bringing what is unconscious
into the light, that which is stored deeply
within the body, we begin to access
tremendous life-force. We begin to
dance with spirit in the body, igniting the
soul’s inner flame and discovering our
own authentic form of expression.
Descending into the psyche through
practices such as the Inner Guide
Meditation, Journey to Find Your Power
Animal and guided individual and group
movement exercises to engage the
creative source within – we will open up
new pathways of inspiration and self-
awareness together, dancing from the
inside out.

The workshop will also include a
thorough warm-up and breakdown of
bellydance movement designed to open
the chakras and channel the Sacred
Feminine within, using a grounded,
healing, and ceremonial approach.

This three and a half hour introductory
workshop is open to dancers of all
levels seeking to bridge their art with
spirit as well as students and non-
dancers alike for it’s highly therapeutic
and self-empowering results.
About Layla Isis
Layla Isis is very pleased and honored to offer this
unique and exciting movement and dance workshop
at this year’s Animus event. Layla has been
performing professionally for over a decade, known
for her expressive and highly skilled interpretations of
Middle Eastern Dance.  In addition to her years of
training and experience in traditional, theatrical,
sacred, and mid-east/contemporary fusion forms of
bellydance, Layla has also been an avid student of
the spiritual traditions of the indigenous tribes of
North America and the religions of the Far East since
she was a tween. She is an accomplished astrologer
in addition to her years of studies in metaphysics,
conscious evolution, Authentic Movement, Alexander
Technique, T’ai Chi, and Jungian archetypes.   
Drawing upon all those influences, it is Layla’s goal to
creatively approach dance as a modality for personal
transformation.
