Zehara Nachash (which means Bright Serpent in Hebrew), is a Boston based Belly Dancer and Snake
Charmer. Zehara and her snakes have been “charming” audiences around New England since 2005,
bringing with them Zehara’s unique brand of Fusion Belly Dance.

Zehara has studied various forms of dance, including ballet, Russian gypsy, tap and jazz since
childhood, but began belly dancing in 2003. Inspired by forms of spiritual and ritualistic dancing
(including African, Aboriginal and Middle Eastern), Zehara incorporates a variety of techniques into
routines, creating a unique  dance experience unlike any other. She draws heavily on Indian faqir and
Shamanistic ritual which helps to  infuse deep spiritual undertones in her pieces with heavy influences
on world and serpentine based mythology.

Zehara has appeared in Mexican singer Tamara Rodriguzes’ music video “Italian-O”, Serpentessa’s
“Embody Your Inner Serpent” DVD, Absolut Vodka’s Apple Orient commercial, and in various print and
magazine articles.

She is the owner of The Snake Hissperer which provides professional snake wrangling for movies,
music videos and educational programs.

Zehara is also a professional theatre producer having produced and organized over 20 shows in the
past five years which include, “Kalliope’s Karavan: An Evening of Side Show Delights & Vaudeville
Theatre,” “Shimmies for Hope: Fundraiser for the Seasons Hospice Foundation,” “The Annual Jane
Doe Belly Dance Benefit,”  “ANIMUS: A Shamanic Journey Through Dance & Theatre,” and  is the
organizer and producer of “Desert Dreams” a monthly dance showcase held in West Roxbury,
Massachusetts.

She currently teaches group and private lessons in West Roxbury, Needham, Dedham and Andover-
and hosts workshops all across New England. Zehara is also the Troupe Director of Alankara, a
professional belly dance troupe that performs throughout Massachusetts.

Zehara’s work with snakes has made her a specialty amongst the New England performance
community. She has been a guest performer of the world renowned Boston Babydolls burlesque
troupe since 2008 and has performed in nightclubs, restaurants, corporate and private functions,
celebrity hosted events, music videos and commercials with and without her slithering dance partners.
Her ability to meld and connect with her snakes and create an interspecies duet makes her stand out
among most modern Snake Charmers.

Zehara is also a professional fire eater and glass walker.
